========== WRITTEN TEST ==========

It's midday in the Dreamer's Eye, and your team has just gotten themselves registered at the Researchers Guild! Having some free time, your teammates decide to explore the open halls, but when they round the corner to move to the next, they encounter a group of Pokémon blocking the way. Many of them are chatting amicably, but a few in the back can be heard grumbling and snapping irritably, and the cause is revealed to be a somewhat tall Flygon attempting to shove her way through (and by the sound of it, accidentally hitting several Pokémon with her wings and tail as she goes).

"Ohhh... Excuse me, pardon me, Leader's Assistant comin' through... C'mon guys, can't you have your little meeting thing somewhere that isn't blocking a hallway? 'scuse me, sorry, jeez..."

Taking a notice to the sight, Devin couldn't help but sigh to the Pansage next to him, “Looks like we're not the only one having a hard time in this place huh Renji?”

“It seems that way.” Renji replies staring worryingly at the Flygon, “But it seems like she's use to it by her attitude to the others... I wonder if we'll be assigned tasks like that?”

When she finally makes it out, you see that her arms are laden with a surprisingly large pile of thick paper scrolls. A large blueprints tube can be seen on her back, the strap crossing her chest diagonally and connecting with a metal clasp, while her wrists bear one gleaming armband each; silver worn on the right, and black worn on the left.

Getting a better look at the gal, Renji flinched at her contents, “Eck gad. That's way to many scrolls for her to carry properly. No wonder she's asking others to move out of the way.”

Devin on the other hand seemed less concerned as he pulled Renji close to the wall as the Flygon approached, “Either way, she's gonna tell us to move out of the way, so move!” Getting the Grass type to listen he too creeps next to the closest wall, “Besides, she looks like she can manage them.”

Your team has only a couple seconds to take this in, however, as an unfortunate misstep results in paper flying everywhere and the Flygon falling flat on her face. Then adding to the chaos, a stray scroll shot right to Devin's face while another rolled to Renji's feet, “You were saying Devin?...” The monkey asked with an all too obvious rhetorical tone.  Then before his partner could outburst complaining as usual, the Grass Type picks up the scroll on the floor by his and Devin's feet, “Come on. That girl needs our assistance.”

There are a few derisive chuckles from the group, but as none of them move forward to help the hapless earth dragon, your team steps up instead. As the duo walk up next to the Flygon, she smiles appreciating their presence and picked up the remaining scrolls in no time.

"Oooof, so many papers...” The Flygon mumbles as she grabs the smaller 'mons scrolls, “There we go," She states with relief, balancing everything back into a manageable pile before straightening them out and breaking out into a cheery smile, "Thanks so much for helping me pick all these up. I swear, that's like the fifth time I've tripped today; I'm such a klutz..."

“It wasn't a problem.” Renji smiles back, “I would understand that since you're carrying so much at the moment.”

“Yeah.” Devin tries his best to smile as he rubs his sore face, “Just make sure you know where you're going next time.”

Thinking the two for a moment, Dragon blinks twice, "Heeeey, wait a minute. You don't look familiar. Are you visiting the Guild?"

“Not just visiting pal.” Devin grins as he feels like gloating about their new found status to anybody, “We just joined the Researchers after these guys saw our 'golden talents' and 'practically' begged us to.”

Glaring at ego-bloated cat, Renji slaps him over the head and smiles at his flinching reactions, “If you by that you mean they 'just' asked us and we 'just' said yes, then yes we did.”

Upon this news from the bickering duo, the Flygon breaks out in a warm smile, "Well no wonder I don't remember you, you're new!" She inclines her long neck in the best bow she can manage without dropping everything all over again. "Welcome to the Researchers Guild! I'm Kali, I'm one of the Guild Leaders' assistants here. Pleased to meet you! And you are...?"

Deciding to put his best foot forward, Renji bows in respect back, “My name is Renji Quajio.” Then returning back to normal, he gestures to the still annoyed Meowth and glares at him, “And my best friend, sometimes arrogate partner, and team-mate is Devin Vernillo.”

Taking the rather unique names to thought, Kali smiles again, "Nice names! You don't hear many like that around here, but then again Andalusst is kind of a mish-mash of a whole bunch of different kinds of names. It's always nice to hear 'em since Pokémon do tend to come in from all over the place, after all.” Taking a moment to catch her breathe, she continues, “Speaking of which, did you guys get here from the fog or something?"

Well would would you look at that. As Renji and Devin glance to another, the looks they gave said it all. Whether they liked it or not, it seems they're stuck with Kali for the time being, as she seems to be quite curious about your team.

“I guess so.” Devin spoke up as he shrugged his shoulders, “We've been travelling around the fogged up world and just wound up finding this place.”

"Yeah.” The Dragon shrugs back understanding the situation, “That's how it is for a few people around here. I'm not an Andalusst native myself, but I figured I'd stick around.” Then as quick as an eye flick, she tilted her head as she changed to subject, “Anyway, now that you're here and you've been registered as a team right? What name did you pick?" Following that, her eyes stay still on the two as she waits for the response with an expectant look.”

Knowing the question was coming eventually, the Meowth and Pansage glanced to each other and took a breathe, making sure to enjoy this explanation “True Connections.” They replied in unison with a smile on their faces, “The true connections between the ones we care about.”

Seconds after this explanation, laughs lightly when it's given showing that it is meant as a good thing,. "Hah, that's so much better than the name I used when I signed up. Wow. I was kind of, uh, young and silly back then, I guess you could say, so the name I used was... yeeeeaaaaah, pretty bad."

“What was it anyway?” Renji glanced at the stiffing Dragon as he crossed his arms, “I mean we told you ours so it's fitting we should know yours...”

“...” The two notice Kali doesn't move a muscle or says the name she used, but before you can ask about it, the green Dragon-type eyes flinch as she sharply tosses out another question with a curious tilt of her head. "So what's your reason for joining the Guild, anyway? There are three guilds here in Andalusst. There's the Rescuers, Hunters, and Researchers. Even if I like it here with the Researchers, I know it's not the best fit for everyone since we're kinda knowledge-oriented; you could've just as easily registered with the Hunters, or the Explorers. So why here?"

“Really?!” The Meowth frowns as he crosses his arms, “Do we really have to tell you just about everything about ourselves? Why I'd 'otta-”

Fortunately, Renji intervenes by covering one hand around the cats mouth, “While I do admit this is developing 'interview' of sorts is becoming personal, this building we are in is a place that pursues knowledge.” Releasing Devin's mouth and makes sure he has calmed down, he turns back to the Flygon, “While we have several reasons as to stay in this place; to discover, explore, and enjoy ourselves, we have our first priority task to find someone who is believed to be in this land.”

As Kali listens quite intently, her earlier cheerful expression changing to one of thoughtful consideration. She waits patiently to make sure they had stopped before speaking again. "I'm sorry if I'm getting annoying.” She appologises bowing the best she could considering sizes, “I get that a lot if you'd believe it... Though I think not many Pokémon come through here with a story like yours... Seems like everyone in the Guilds has a driving force behind what they do, and some reasons are... Well...” Pausing once again, tilts her head as if thinking of the right words, “... They're better than others..."

After a few endless seconds of silence passed her voice regains its chipper tone and straightens herself out. "Okay! So that's the "why" and the "how"; what about the "what"? What do you think made the Guild decide to accept you into the ranks?" She says this with honest curiosity, trying to make up for the previous question. Not a trace of taunt, forcefulness, or teasing in her tone, and listens intently for her answers...

Feeling like he had heard a variation of this question, Renji steps closer symbolising he would start off, “I would most likely say that as a whole, it was for individual involvement in the recent rampaging of the giant statue... But if the higher authorities have taken a closer examination, then I guess they could have seen my level of intelligence. I can think of simple to complex plans and have some experience in construction and planing of complex machines. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm a good battle strategist or master builder or sorts, but I can think to I can improve if I were given the right training..”

Taking a moment to let Kali have the information settle, Renji walked back to Devin and pat him of his left shoulder, symbolising his turn, “Since they've seen me in action during the 'Giant Rampaging', I'd like to say they've taken notice to my 'golden talents' of speed and agility. I can pretty much move around quick and hit anyone with a good amount of attacks. Perfect as a distraction, annoyance to my enemies, or a decent fighter.”

Waiting a few second to see Devin stop yapping, Kali took this sign that they were done, "Oh wow, that's pretty cool!” She smiles sincerely, “You guys are lucky. Y'know sometimes I wish I had a better skill set like that; then maybe I'd be more help to the Guild. Pretty much the only things I do around here are draw and deliver papers everywhere and..., Well... Get stuck helping Archie." She says the last part with sudden venom, and your team gets the feeling that she's not entirely fond of the Pokémon in question.

“Is the guy a creep?” Devin ask bluntly to Kali distaste, “I think I've hear the name float around here, so is he infamous of something?”

"Not that way, I mean yeah sure he's one of the Guild Leaders, but he's just so... So... Annoying.” She repeats the same amount of venom as before with a vengeance, then takes in a deep breathe, “He's always bossing people around and taking credit for everything! Acting like he's so much smarter than everyone else! And I'm always the one having to put up with him since someone has to help him, but everyone else always runs off before they get stuck with him instead!" Kali lets out a great huff of frustration, glancing away for a moment before remembering she has an audience.
“Sounds like a ridiculously stuck, bossy, version of Renji who'd hog all the attention...” Devin replies as he jokingly smirks at the Pansage's direction. Who, of course, glares at the cat with a building irritation.

Giving an embarrassed chuckle as her face slowly reddens, Kali sighs trying t think of something, "And oh gosh, there I go running my mouth, ahaha! Sorry, I'm not talking too much or anything, am I? I kind of have a tendency to ramble on sometimes... And I probably really shouldn't be bad-mouthing Archimedes..."

“It's not a problem Kali.” Renji replied turning his glare of Devin's annoyance to the Flygon, “I would applaud you for being able to take the time of day for such a character.”

“Time?!...” With a sudden, panicked expression abruptly crossing her face, Kalia remembers the mass of paper in her arms, then blurts, "And OH MY GOSH I still need to take care of these!" Without a second thought she starts running down the hall, then abruptly pulls an about-face - accidentally whacking a passerby with her tail while doing so - to stammer, "U-Uh, it was nice meeting you! I'll, er, see you later! I hope?" She attempts to raise an arm to wave back, but stops when the paper pile in her arms wobbles precariously, and instead flashes a quick grin before stomping briskly away.

“...”

“Well...” Renji sighed as his eyes still at the gal's flashy exit, “It's a good thing she didn't drop those scrolls while fleeing to who knows where...”

“Yeah...” Devin grinned as he turned to his pal, “But hey! At least we helped someone out and got a... Friend? I guess?” Staring at the Flygon's trail, he wraps his arm around the monkey's shoulder, “Come on! Let's go find Julia and get those free uniforms she told us about!
